Why Do Men Cheat Instead of Break Up?
If someone is unhappy in a relationship, why do they cheat before breaking up? Why not just break up first if they want to sleep with someone else.
Break-ups suck. They’re often times messy and uncomfortable. Especially if the reason for the break-up is unclear. Like, if one person simply isn’t happy or no longer wants to be in a relationship. When the reason for splitting is hard to define, it makes it easier to get sucked back in.
Oh, you’re not happy? We’ll go to counseling. We’ll open up the relationship. We’ll try this. We’ll do that.
That’s where the cheating comes in. Cheating crosses the line. To many, it’s unforgivable. There’s no coming back from it.
That’s why a lot of people cheat: Because it’s a tool used to piss off your partner so badly they will no longer want to be with you. Then they can initiate the break-up, thereby lowering the chances they’ll try to convince you to stay.
The trick, of course, is making sure the infidelity comes to light. Enter Tinder, Bumble, OKCup…
