Understand that most people will tell you that their need for space has nothing to do with you even if it does. They’re going to say it’s not about you because they don’t want to get in to a long drawn out discussion. They want, well, space.

In my experience, when someone says they need space what they actually mean is they need space away from the relationship. That’s not to be confused with needing sopace from you. Usually, it means they’re in over their head or feeling overwhelmed in some way and need to take a step back.
